1. What “cookies” means here
Cookies are small pieces of information that a website can store in a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, which remains on a device until removed or checked for expiry. This static site uses local storage rather than setting HTTP cookies through its own JavaScript. We use the familiar phrase “cookie preferences” to cover those device-storage choices.
Unlike ordinary cookies, local-storage values are not automatically attached to every network request. The finder code reads them locally. This implementation does not transmit the stored budget, study category or portability choice to a remote endpoint.
2. Storage inventory
The table describes the storage implemented in the supplied files. It is not a claim about additional cookies that an independently configured hosting platform might set. An operational publisher should audit its deployed infrastructure and update this inventory if that behavior changes.
| Category | Name / technology | Purpose and content | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | sv-cookie-consentLocal storage | Choice type, functional permission, version and expiry timestamp. Prevents repeated prompts. | Up to 12 months; checked on site load. |
| Functional | sv-finder-settingsLocal storage | Budget, study type, portability and expiry. Written only after consent and a valid finder submission. | 30 days from the latest saved submission. |
| Analytics | None installed | No analytics identifier, audience measurement script or analytics cookie. | Not applicable. |
There are no advertising or cross-site profiling cookies in this implementation. Expiry is enforced when the code next reads a record; local storage does not delete itself while you are away. You can remove it sooner through browser settings.
3. Accept, reject or customize
Accept All enables the optional functional category and stores your decision. It does not activate analytics, because no analytics service is installed. Reject Non-Essential saves a refusal and deletes previously saved finder inputs. The finder remains usable without optional storage.
Preferences opens a dialog where essential decision storage is explained and functional storage can be switched on or off. The analytics control is disabled to reflect the actual implementation. Use the footer’s Cookie preferences button on any page to change your decision later. Canceling the dialog leaves your existing choice unchanged.
Choices are specific to this browser and site origin. They do not automatically synchronize across devices, browser profiles or domain variants. Private browsing, storage restrictions or clearing site data may cause the banner to appear again.
4. Browser opt-out instructions
In Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, and find the controls for site settings or stored site data. Search for this domain and delete its data. In Edge, open Settings and locate cookies, site permissions or stored site data, then remove the domain’s entry. Menu wording can vary by browser release.
In Firefox, open Settings, Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data and Manage Data. In Safari on macOS, open Settings, Privacy and Manage Website Data. On iPhone or iPad, website-data controls are available within Safari’s settings, commonly under Advanced. Deleting all browser data may also sign you out of unrelated sites.
Blocking optional storage does not prevent reading guides or calculating matches. If JavaScript is disabled, the static guides remain available, but the finder and preference dialog cannot operate. No optional local-storage write occurs without the script and a valid consent choice.
5. Questions and future changes
See the privacy policy for data-rights information and the status of the illustrative publisher details. The designated privacy address is [email protected]; mailbox operation is not verified by this build. Any future analytics, advertising or embedded service requires an updated inventory and any applicable consent before activation.
